The National Congress of Nigerian Students has urged
the Federal Government to ensure that all culprits of the gruesome
murder of about 40 students of the Federal Polytechni, Mubi, Adamawa
State were punished according to the law.
NACONS National President, Abdulfatah Abdulsalam, in a
statement on Saturday, said the killers of the students were bent on
destroying and retarding development of the country.
He also urged the law enforcement agents to ensure
thorough investigation into the massacre, adding that the culprits must
be brought to book.
He called on the Federal Government and the National
Assembly to tackle insecurity in campuses by initiating and enacting
laws that would severely sanction cultism on the nation’s campuses.
The student leader said cultism must be routed by tertiary institutions in the country.
“We find it extremely difficult to cope with the loss
of our colleagues, friends, brothers and sisters that lost their lives
in the course of the attack.
“School authorities in conjunction with the security
agents in Nigeria should provide maximum security for all tertiary
institutions in Nigeria.
“The office of the Special Adviser to the President on Students and
Youths Matter should coordinate the networking of the adequate security
needed to protect the lives of the future leaders of this country,” he
said.
