SAD: Bride drowns on Wedding Day, Body Found

After a popular global report of a woman who has been swept away while taking wedding photos in her wedding gown, the bride has now been identified, according to news media reports.

The bride posed for wedding photos late Friday when she got sucked into a river and was dragged to her death by her own wedding dress that was heavily soaked in water.

"I tried to save her. I tried, I tried, I tried," wedding photographer, Louis Pagakis, told the news media. Pagakis said that the woman now identified as 30-year-old Laval, Quebec realtor Maria Pantazopoulos, wanted a picture of herself swimming in her dress.

Canadian police told reporters that the woman had fallen off a cliff and plunged to death. They said she was a bride-to-be, according to reports. Later in the day, police corrected the reports, telling the news media that the woman only had her feet in the river.

They said her dress absorbed a lot of water and threw her into the water. She was eventually dragged away by the current. The police reported to the scene and soon found the woman's body about four hours later. Two witnesses, who were not named, were taken to a local hospital for shock.
