ASUU Withdraw From Negotiation With Government

The Academic Staff Union of Universities on Thursday announced its disengagement from further negotiations with the Federal Government, over what it describes as the latter’s perceived insincerity in the 2009 agreement as well as the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) both parties signed in January last year.

The union National President, Dr. Nassir Faggae Isa, said at a press briefing held at the University of Lagos on Thursday that the 2009 agreement and the MoU must first be honoured, even if ASUU feels the need to consider renegotiation with the government.

The union had embarked on a total strike on July 2 over government‘s failure to honour the 2009 agreement.

Faggae said, “Consequently, our members are left with no other choice than to prosecute this strike to its logical conclusion. ASUU members nationwide are saying this striker will not be suspended until and unless the government respects the 2009 agreement and makes concrete efforts to implement it in the best interest of the country.”

Woman Pours Hot Oil On Lover For Ditching Her For Another After 4-Years Relationship

A Karu Senior Magistrates’ court, yesterday, sentenced a 25-year-old woman, Victoria Alonge, to one-year in jail for pouring hot oil on her boyfriend, Roland Nna who lives in Kurudu, Abuja, over his refusal to marry her.

The Police Prosecutor, Cpl. Paschal Njoku, said Alonge went to Nna’s house at about 4:30 a.m. on the fateful day, August 11 and poured hot oil on him while he was asleep, resulting in grievous hurt on his body.

Njoku said Victoria was immediately arrested by the police, based on the report and her confession to committing the crime before the police. And while in detention, Victoria even threatened to inflict more harm on the victim. The prosecutor urged the court to summarily punish the accused since she did not deny the charge brought against her.
In her defence, Victoria told the court that her estranged lover dated her for over four years and promised to marry her, only for him to change his mind after falling in love with another woman in Abuja.

Barely 2weeks after a police sergeant, Chris Omeleze, was dismissed after being caught on video demanding a bribe of N25,000, another footage showing a policewoman negotiating a bribe of N100 has surfaced on the Naija social media space.

The video footage, which circulated on Monday, showed the policewoman sitting in a commercial bus which she had apprehended in Lagos.

The driver and the conductor, at the yet-to-be identified location in Lagos, w ho had passengers in their bus, were seen making efforts to pacify the policewoman so that they could be allowed to continue with their journey; but their pleas went unheeded.

Ayoola Soola, 35, has asked the Alagbado Grade A Customary Court to dissolve her marriage. The unemployed mother of four complained that her husband, Seun Soola, is a contractor and travels a lot, but does not bother about the upkeep of the children.

The university town of Nsukka in Enugu State has witnessed yet another brutal death as a tipper driver who allegedly impregnated a widow and her daughter has reportedly been burnt to death by son of the widow, Sunday Ugwoke.
The tipper driver, Sylvester Ezema, attached to Ferguson Nig. Limited, hailed from Akpa Edem, Nsukka Local Government Area, Enugu State and shared a common fence with his widowed lover, Mrs. Ugwoke. Reports said he had been having amorous dealings with the woman’s daughter too, unknown to the widow.
Sylvester was allegedly burnt to death by Sunday, who had warned him to leave his mother alone and stop having sė́x with her in his late father’s bedroom, which is adjacent to his room, a warning the deceased allegedly ignored. Having defied his warning, Sunday, armed with pepper and petrol ambushed the lover boy.
As Sylvester stepped out of the house, Sunday poured the powder pepper and petrol on Sylvester and set him ablaze.

How Three Men Rầped A 14-year Old Girl

A 24-year-old patent medicine dealer, Ijezie Chidiebere, and two other men have been arraigned before the Ebute Meta Magistrate’s Court for allegedly rầping a 14-year-old girl. The incident was said to have taken place on August 3, 2013 in Orile-Iganmu, Lagos State.

The police said Chidiebere and the other suspects; Okechukwu Ezea, 25 and Chikezie Ejesi, 25, detained the victim in Chidiebere’s shop where they violated her “and in the process, destroyed her hymen.”

To cover their action, they allegedly poured a liquid substance suspected to be olive oil on her while pretending to be clerics. They were said to have told some people that had gathered that the girl was a witch, who needed urgent spiritual deliverance. Some of the people, who were not convinced, alerted policemen who arrested the trio.

The three men were arraigned on four counts of felony, rầpe and false representation. The charges read in part, “That you, Ijezie Chidiebere,m, Okechukewu Ezea, m, Chikezie Ejesi,m and others now at large on August 3, 2013, at 9pm at No 8, Kekere-Ekun Street, Orile-Iganmu in the Lagos Magisterial District did conspire amongst yourselves to commit felony to wit defilement and administering of noxious substance.”

The remains of Ifechukwudi Nwanikpor, the 24 year old who was one of two young men brutally murdered by villagers from the Tozukame community area in Ajara, Badagry on Sunday July 21, was laid to rest at the Badagry Cemetery in Lagos yesterday.

Policemen watched as both men – Nwanikpor and Kazeem Onayemi (26) were beaten and killed by the community members after being labelled armed robbers.

Mourners and family members came out in their numbers at the Badagry cemetery but couldn’t hold back their tears at the burial.

Now the Badagry community that lynched him is offering his family N2.5 million compensation.

Singer Raz B Hospitalized In China After A Nightclub Attack

Raz-B -- the former B2K singer -- was hospitalized in China yesterday after someone smashed him in the mouth with a glass bottle ... turning his face into a bloody mess.

The 28-year-old R&B star was performing at a nightclub in Zhejiang (birthplace of Qian Xuesen -- the "Father of Chinese Rocketry" ... yay science!). During the performance, he noticed a fistfight in the crowd and went to go break it up -- when someone swung a bottle right into his moneymaker, causing several cuts ... including a deep gash on his lip.
We're told the Chinese police immediately stepped in ... grabbing the attacker AND Raz -- and dragging them both to jail.

Cops quickly released Raz after determining he did nothing wrong. Raz's rep says cops made the bottle thrower fork over roughly $5,000 to pay for Raz's medical expenses.

After the drama at the police station, Raz was finally taken to a hospital, where he underwent a 1-hour surgical procedure to repair the "hole" in his lip. The wound also required 4 stitches.

As the strike embarked upon by the Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU, entered its sixth week, some students have devised “ingenious” means of making money; they declared Wednesday their “rag-day”.
As early as 8:45am, major inter-city roads and streets were literally overtaken by the students, who have been on “forced vacation”, since university lecturers “lowered their pens”, to press home enhancement of allowances.
With their shorts, tops and trousers turned, the young Nigerians approached motorists stocked in traffic as well as passers-by, for money. Though, the “rag-day” was said to be by students of College of Education, ‘Inside FCT’ was told that most of those “ragging” are undergraduates, who have been out of school, since the ongoing strike started.
The university students were said to have taken advantage of the development, to help themselves. One of the students, who gave her name simply as Sindy said: “Seriously, I’m an undergraduate and you know our universities have been on strike for over one month now, and we’ve got needs to meet.
I have to rag at least to make some cool money to keep on keeping on”, she said. Another student, Moses Abahing, said they had to do this, since “some parents and guardians hardly give them pocket money, during strike or holiday periods.”

The actress has again spat venom on two Nollywood actresses, Ini Edo and Mercy J.Okojie, saying both actresses are no match for her.
According to her, Mercy and Ini are her juniors when it comes to the movie business. As a matter of fact, she said she used to drive Ini in her car to movie locations, while Mercy was still running around looking for waka pass roles.

Her outburst is actually on haters who are not too happy that the actress is back to the Nigeria screen. Read her:

Scott Disick was just proved to be the father of Kourtney Kardashian‘s son, but the man who claims Mason Disick could be his child doesn’t buy the results, exclusively telling RadarOnline.com he believes the paternity test “could have been fixed.”
“We don’t trust the results and believe it could have been fixed,” a spokesperson for male model Michael Girgenti told Radar.
“Still going to court to fight for court ordered results.”
On Thursday lab results were released showing that Scott is indeed Mason’s father — but Michael plans to follow through with the paternity lawsuit he filed earlier this month in which he claims he had “unprotected vaginal sex” with the reality TV star in March 2009 at his Glendale, Calif. apartment — at the climax of which he “ejaculated inside [her] vagina” — the court docs state.
However, Kourtney had hoped the recent paternity test would put the case to rest.

A 25-year-old man committed suicide on Thursday morning by electrocuting himself on an overhead power line in Nakuru, Kenya. According to an eyewitness, Susan Wachuka, the young man removed all of his clothing before climbing the transmitter line. “We thought it was usual of him to undress,” she said.

The man, who was only identified by the locals as Emmanuel, is said to have been a carpenter who was having mental problems, adding that he was always quiet. Kenya power staff arrived at the scene but were forced to wait for crime police officers for three hours before removing the body.
