Twenty-five
year old Ayobami Ayoola last Saturday emerged the star prize winner of
MTN sponsored Project Fame West Africa (season five), smiling home with a
brand new Toyota Rav4, N2.5 million and a mouth-watering one year
recording contract.
The
grand finale show which held last Saturday, at Ultima Studios,
Admiralty Way, Lekki, Lagos, witnessed special performances from
Style-Plus of the famous “Olufunmi” hit track; Chidinma, winner of MTN
project Fame season 3 and Flavour. The finalists were also on stage to
perform their personal composition.
Out
of the seven contestants who made it to the grand finale of the music
competition, Ayo emerged winner, having gotten the highest number of
votes from viewers, both within Nigeria and the whole of West Africa.
Ayo
was closely followed by Marvelous Odiete, Adetoun Adekoya and Ella
Nnabuchi, who emerged the first, second and third runners up
respectively.
An
elated Ayo, speaking briefly after he was announced the winner of the
show by the hosts, Joseph Benjamin and Adaora Oleh in a tension soaked
night, said winning the competition is a dream come true for him.
Young
Ayo, whose music talent was discovered by his father, a pastor, said on
four occasions, he had tried to participate in Project Fame, but
couldn’t scale the audition hurdles. “But when I eventually made it to
the Academy this season, it was a big achievement for me, and coming
this far to become winner is a dream come true.”
The
first runner up of the show (Adetoun) won a brand new Toyota Corolla
and N1.5m, second runner up (Marvelous) got a Toyota Yaris and N1m,
while the third runner up (Ella) smiled home with N1m cash prize.
MTN
Project Fame West Africa is a reality music show. This year, 15
contestants made it to the academy from a wide pool of potentially
famous young stars from off screen auditions. Auditions were held in
Liberia, Sierra Leone, Ghana, and selected states in Nigeria.
