Nigeria’s two-goal hero in the match that guaranteed the Super Eagles a berth in the quarter finals, Victor Moses and goalkeeper Vincent Enyeama, have assured Nigerians that ‘stars don’t win matches’ as they gear up to face Cote d’Ivoire in their Sunday’s Africa Cup of Nations quarter-final match.
Moses said both Nigeria and Cote d’Ivoire parade good players and only after 90 minutes of action would determine a winner.
“Cote d’Ivoire no doubt has good players in their team but we are equally here with good players in our team, so we are concentrating on the match at the moment.
“We will go there with full force, and I think we will cause upset, so we will meet on the pitch on Sunday. We are doing well progressively as a team”, said Moses.
On his part, Eagles safe hands, Vincent Enyeama said though the Ivorians parade a galaxy of stars, the team that will play the best game on Sunday will win, as stars don’t win matches.
“Cote d’Ivoire is the favourite team in this championship. You can’t take it away from them that they are a good team. It is star-studded team, half of them are playing in the English Premier League and the other half are playing in big teams across Europe, so they are favourites.
“But you should understand that stars don’t play football, teams do”, Enyeama stressed.
