Jay-Z Announces New Album, Inside Magna Carta Holy Grail + Video

American rapper Jay-Z is bringing out a new album on July 4, he announced in a video which played during an advertisement break of the NBA Finals.
Inside Magna Carta Holy Grail will be the 43-year-old’s 12th studio album. Jay-Z, who was born Shawn Carter, appears with fellow musicians and producers in Pharrell Williams, Rick Rubin and Timbaland in a studio in the three-minute Samsung advertisment. The group are shown working on the album, and Carter is shown talking about the record and its release date.

Carter discusses the role of the internet in music production today, which he compares to “the Wild Wild West” and says “we need to write the new rules”.
Little information is given about the record itself, although Carter says the album “is about this duality of how do you navigate your way through this whole thing, through success and through failures, and remain yourself?”
Carter’s last album waswatch the throne in 2011, a collaboration with rapper Kanye West, whose new album Yeezus will be out on June 18.
