A groom along with two friends were shot dead yesterday by gunmen, operating on a motor bike, in Kano, northern Nigeria.
The victims were shot dead as they disembarked from a car in front of a house in Kawon Maigari area of the city.
“The
three gunmen came on a motorcycle and opened fire on their victims who
had just parked outside a house,” Kano state police spokesman Mustapha
Abubakar said.
“They killed three, two men and a woman, while the fourth escaped unhurt,” he added.
Abubakar said one of the victims was engaged to the woman who escaped the attack at the Kawon Maigari area of the city.
The two other victims were friends helping the couple with their wedding plans.
No arrest has been made although investigations were ongoing, the spokesman said.
It
was not clear who was behind the attack, but the attack bears the
imprimatur of Boko Haram militants, who often stage motor-bike attacks
on security personnel and residents they accuse of providing
incriminating information about them.
