Nigeria Ordered 53 Gold iPhones For N682m – Report
The Chief Executive Officer, Gold and Co., United Kingdom, Amjad Ali, has told a United Kingdom newspaper, The Independent, that the Federal Government has ordered 53 gold-plated iPhone 5S mobile handsets from his firm as part of the memorabilia for the nation’s 53rd Independence anniversary on October 1, 2013.
The gold iphones are said to worth £2.65m (about N682m).
Each of the gold-plated iPhones costs up to £50,000, said The Independent, in its report on Wednesday.
The minimum cost of basic models of iPhone in gold or rose gold is £3,000.
The 53 special phones are to be supplied by Amjad Ali, a Bristol-born owner of Gold and Co. based in Dubai.
Ali, who told The Independent that his firm was “fulfilling an order from the Nigerian government for 53 gold-plated iPhones, added, “We will engrave them with the coat of arms, a shield and two horses. “
However, he neither disclosed when he received the order for the item nor the Federal Government agency or ministry that contracted him.
Some of its customers include the Saudi royal family, which, Ali said, ordered a gold iPhone studded with hundreds of diamonds, including a giant piece that serves as the device’s “home” button.
Nigerian Jailed In US For $11m Fraud
A Nigerian, Emmanuel Ehkator, has been sentenced by a District Court Judge, Middle District of Pennsylvania in the United States to three years in prison for $11m fraud.
Ehkator, who was also investigated by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission for criminal conspiracy to commit mail and wire fraud, was ordered by the court to pay $11,092,028 “in restitution” to his victims.
Ehkator’s property in Canada and the “contents of several bank accounts” in Nigeria were also declared forfeited by Justice Yvette Kane.
A statement by the EFCC Head, Media and Publicity, Mr Wilson Uwujaren, said the commission had in August 2010, arrested 42–year-old Ehkator in Nigeria. He was subsequently extradited to the US a year after following his plea of guilt.
The statement said the prosecutor, Assistant US Attorney, Christy H. Fawcett, told the court that Ehkator was part of an “attorney collection scam” in which he would contact US and Canadian law firms by email.

A Christian minister, televangelist and faith healer T. B. Joshua on September 1, 2013, Sunday, revealed his stance on the possible strike on Syria.
The Prophet said that ‘If the world goes to war in Syria, it will not stop there. It will affect all its neighbours. There will be no peace in that region for years.’
T. B. Joshua also added: “We should appeal to the Arab League to come together and talk to our brother.” God Almighty continues to speak through His servants, the prophets.
The Prophet gave words of prophecy concerning the pending war on Syria. The Bible says in Proverbs 29:18, “Where there is no vision, the people perish.” We thank God for the prophetic warning and the instruction in righteousness and wisdom to handle such a situation. ASUU: The Strike Will Continue, Even If It Takes Years Until Our Request Is Granted
The lingering strike actionn embarked on by the Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU, Chairman, Kogi State University Chapter, Sylvester Osakwe Ukwuteno, has said the union is ready to fight until their request is granted, even if takes more than a year, as he noted that Ghana experienced a year and some months strike before the government came to their senses and the outcome is currently obvious, “we would do even more till our request is granted,” he stated.
Despite the N30 billion released to the striking university lecturers as payment for the earned allowances, Ukwuteno, has said that the ongoing strike by the union will continue because the Federal Government has not strengthened its vision for the sector.
Speaking to Vanguard Learning in a telephone interview, Ukwuteno explained that if there are plans for the sector, government would have speedily concurred with the plea to innovate the sector being pursued by the union, adding that the pursuit of the union is to ensure that the country meets up with theinternational standard of education.

Nigerian Conjoined Twins “Healthy” After Operation In India
A pair of formerly conjoined twins were healthy and happy after they were successfully separated in a marathon “nerve-wracking” operation in India by a team of 40 specialists, doctors said on Wednesday.
The one-year-old girls from Nigeria, sporting matching bright pink dresses, sat patiently on their parents’ laps as doctors explained the separation last month during an 18-hour operation at a New Delhi hospital.
“They were fused at their back when they came to us which is very rare,” paediatric surgeon Prashant Jain told AFP.
“Usually the twins are joined in the head or the upper body. It posed a huge challenge to our team of doctors,” Jain said.
Doctors held the media conference as the twins, Hussaina and Hassana, sat happily, grabbing at a mobile phone, clutching a rattle and trying to pull off their mother’s earrings.
Malama Badariyya Badaru, the mother of the twins, said she was overjoyed at finally being able to hold the girls in her arms “individually”.
The girls, sporting hair bands of different colours to make recognition easier, looked curiously at the cameras during the conference at the BLK Super Speciality hospital.

Carissa Capeloto -- now 22 -- claims she was forced to have sex with Sean, his bodyguard and a member of Sean's band at a Seattle hotel in July, 2010, after she had smoked pot and downed 7-10 shots of vodka.
Capeloto -- who has sued all 3 men -- alleges she'd been invited to Kingston's hotel room for a meet-and-greet following a Bieber concert -- where Kingston had also performed -- but when she showed up ... Kingston was waiting naked on his bed.
Capeloto claims the bodyguard picked her up and placed her on top of Kingston, and all three of the men proceeded to gang rape her while she was "obviously intoxicated, incapable of consent."
Capeloto says her friend later entered the room and rescued her. The police were called and Capeloto was taken to the hospital where she says she was treated for physical injuries consistent with rape.

Police Arraign Three For Kidnapping, Raping UNILAG Student
Three men, Bashorun Babajide, Aje Olumayowa, and Babajide Ajayi, have been arraigned before the Tinubu Magistrate’s Court, Lagos State, for allegedly kidnapping and raping an undergraduate of the University of Lagos.
In the eight counts which the police preferred against the defendants, it was alleged that after raping the girl, the men also took snapshots of their victim and posted them on the Internet.
It was alleged that within a few days of the upload, the nude photographs went viral on social media, exposing Titiloye to ridicule and shame.
PUNCH Metro had reported in June, 2013 how the 22-year-old girl was abducted and raped at Ajose Street, on the Lagos Island.
The crime was said to have been uncovered and reported to the police after the attention of the family members of the victim was called to the pictures circulating online.
The police told the court on Thursday that Babajide, Mayowa and Ajayi also assaulted and attempted to murder their victim.
The police said the incident occurred in April, 2013.
The three accused persons were arraigned for kidnap, rape, assault, battery, unlawful detention and attempted murder.

There was mayhem at the Seme border area of Lagos State on Thursday after a 35-year-old man, Saturday Joel, was shot by officials of the Nigerian Customs Service.
Eyewitnesses said Joel was hit by a stray bullet while some customs officers were trying to apprehend a motorist who was smuggling a red Volkswagen bus from Benin Republic into Nigeria.
It was learnt that after the shooting, some residents took to the streets in protest. The residents were said to have alleged that customs officials had killed at least three motorists this month under the pretext that they were smugglers.
It was learnt that in the ensuing pandemonium, the customs officials stationed in the area fled. However, a Superintendent of Customs, identified as J. I Motojelu, was said to have been driving by at the time.
PUNCH Metro learnt that in retaliation, the angry mob, led by a community leader, dragged the officer out of his Toyota Corolla car marked ABJ 663 DW, and killed him.
It was learnt that the irate mob, also set the deceased officer’s vehicle ablaze and set up bonfires at the centre of the road.
The culprits were said to have used the opportunity to steal some items that had previously been seized by customs.
A police source said, “Motojelu, who knew nothing about the incident was beaten to death. The mob opened a customs patrol van stationed nearby and took a G3 rifle with 30 rounds of ammunition kept inside it. They then set the vehicle ablaze.”

Taraba Assembly To Suntai: Go Back To US Hospital
Barely 24 hours after Governor Danbaba Suntai, addresed the people of Taraba State through a recorded video, the state House of Assembly on Thursday advised him to return to the hospital in the United States where he was on admission for further treatment.
The assembly, in a statement by its Speaker, Haruna Tsokwa, and 15 other members, also reaffirmed Alhaji Garba Umar as the acting governor of the state.
The lawmakers claimed that before Wednesday, all their efforts to meet with the recuperating governor, who arrived in Jalingo on Sunday from the US, were rebuffed by people close to him.
They pointed out that from the manner the governor spoke when they finally met with him on Wednesday, they doubted that he authored the letter in which he informed them of his return and desire to resume work.
According to the lawmakers, their advice to the governor and the position on who was in charge of governance in the state, were in the interest of the people.
“Be that as it may, we the undersigned members of the state assembly have unanimously resolved in our meeting that the deputy governor, upon whom power was earlier transmitted by the State House of Assembly, still remains the Acting Governor of Taraba State and he will continue to act in that regard until such a time the governor is capable of administering the state,” they added in the statement
“The leadership of the assembly made several efforts to see the governor since his arrival, but till Wednesday, they were not allowed access to him. The ailing governor spoke in a manner that brought more doubt to his letter purportedly transmitted to the speaker,”the lawmakers said.

According to Telegraphng, Ebonyi State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) DSP Sylvester Igbo, confirmed that the deceased was in the hotel for an extra-marital affair, and that his 21-year-old escort was now in police custody helping them in the investigation of the matter.

According to the Daily Mail, Tyson told the presser: “I’m a bad guy sometimes…I did a lot of bad things, and I want to be forgiven… I wanna change my life, I wanna live a different life now. I wanna live my sober life.
“I don’t wanna die. I’m on the verge of dying, because I’m a vicious alcoholic.”
Tyson went on to say he had spent the last six days sober, a situation he described as “a miracle”.
“I’ve been lying to everybody else that think I was sober, but I’m not. This is my sixth day. I’m never gonna use again.”
Tyson has had a highly public battle with drug and alcohol addiction, having spent three separate stints in rehab. However, in an interview last year he claimed he had been sober for three years.

Inspector General Police MD Abubakar set to remarry in September
According to a report by Sahara Reporters, Nigeria's Inspector General of Police, Mohamnmed Abubakar is getting ready to re-marry a year and a half after loosing his wife, Maryam Abubakar, to cancer. (Mrs Abubakar died in January 2012)
IG Abubakar will be engaging in a three-day wedding ritual to 35 year old Safiya (pictured above with him). Their wedding proper will take place on Saturday September 14th. Congrats to them.

How Catholic Priest Accidentally Shot Self Dead In Edo
Catholic worshippers at St. Thomas Moore Catholic Church, Sobe, in Owan West Local council area of Edo State, were yesterday thrown into mourning when a Catholic priest, Rev. Father Peter Ayala, was found dead in his apartment Sunday morning before mass.
The deceased, who was expected to conduct the morning mass at 7am was reportedly cleaning his double-barreled gun inside his apartment within the church premises, when the gun allegedly went off, killing him in the process.
According to The Nation, the incident took place in the early hours of Sunday before the priest dressed up for the mass, while worshippers were beginning to converge for the worship service.
